The opta data group is the leading provider of IT, billing and services in the healthcare sector. The Situation
With the introduction of the MDR (Medical Device Regulation) conversion in 2021, opta data was looking for a scanner that has the ability to read data matrix codes. This form of codes have become necessary as part of the implementation of the MDR.

opta data had previously used the Opticon OPL-9815 as a 1D barcode reader for inventory solutions. Due to the high reliability and simple operation of the scanners, it was obvious to rely on Opticon again for the expansion and it was decided to use the 2D-barcode reader and mobile computer H-31.

The online features of this computer series give opta data numerous opportunities to open up new ways of mobile data collection for its customers.

The Solution
opta data decided to use a remote desktop connection instead of a stand-alone app. The existing application was scaled to the size of the mobile computer and optimised for mobile use. A direct connection to the customer server can be established via this connection. This includes, among other things, goods receipt, goods issue, order picking or stocktaking.

The project was successfully implemented through joint work with the Opticon development department and opta data.

opta data introduced this solution to its customers in the healthcare sector and other service providers as part of the MDR roll out and has since been successfully used in medical supply stores, orthopaedic and medical technology companies.
